Ayahuasca Ceremonies

Ceremonies are the most common way to work with ayahuasca. In order to prepare our bodies for the ingestion of sacred plant medicine a special diet is followed a few weeks before, after which there is a cleansing purge, most commonly with an infusion of tobacco. During the ceremony, a concoction of sacred plants is ingested which has mind expanding properties (Psychedelic literally means ‘manifestation of the mind’). Effects can range from lucid colourful visions to heightened sensitivity to strong bodily sensations, yet every ceremony is different and effects vary per person. Ayahuasca allows us to deeply enter our inner realms and profoundly connect with our innate wisdom, our truth and our own spirituality. Ceremonies can open up a space of insight and clarity, sudden intuitions and deep comprehensions. The whole process is accompanied through songs, such as ícaros, medicine songs and mantras which are used to guide and support the experience.

After the ceremony there’s the opportunity to share one’s experiences in order to better make sense of them and give them a place in the overall arch of our lives. The days after the ceremony are usually filled with flashes of insight, comprehensions and vivid dreams, as the inner work continues. Then, after two weeks of dietary restrictions in order to safeguard the work of the plants, we can go back to our daily routines.

There’s the possibility to follow a longer trajectory to integrate all the information revealed to you in ceremony  or to continue to work on that which still needs attending to.
