Hi, my name is Jan Heijting.
I accompany people on their journey to wholeness.

I am a Certified Psychedelic Practitioner, Traditional Amazonian Medicine Lineage Holder, and a Certified Integrative Coach. I also hold Master’s Degrees in Digital Arts and Design Management.
Now that we got the labels out of the way, this is what actually happened.
I had a successful career in design and research, I’ve won international awards, and consulted Big Tech companies. This is when life brutally knocked me down.
I had my first serious burnout about twenty years ago, which set me off on the path of learning how to heal my mind, body and soul. (Spoiler alert: I am very late diagnosed neurodivergent, resulting in all kinds of misdiagnoses and therefore not receiving the right care or knowing how to create the conditions in which I thrive. This also resulted in having to dive very deep into my own practices as it became quite literally a matter of survival, but more on that later.)
Coming from an academic background, my starting point for inner work was through neuroscience in order to find out what ‘really worked’. I started practising and studying meditation and yoga. Something was still missing, I wanted to learn a more direct way to work with my behavioural patterns and emotions. I went on to study coaching and became fully absorbed by it, and ended up mentoring at the institute where I was studying. (I have 35 certifications. Autistic special interest, anyone? 😉 )
Through a friend I did my first Amazonian ‘dieta de tabaco’, a process in isolation during which you ingest tobacco ‘smoothies’ that set all kinds of psycho-spiritual processes in motion. It was a very hard but good experience. A few years later I met the couple who would become my teachers of Traditional Amazonian Medicine.
I was to be cracked open even further. After a year of being bedridden due to a full collapse of my body I had to give up my life in Spain and moved to the Peruvian jungle in an attempt to heal. It worked, and three months later I was back on my feet. This opened a chapter of spending even more time in the jungle learning and working with plant medicines. I eventually ended up becoming a partner in the center. All this time I continued studying trauma, inner work and the nervous system.
Being from Europe, I felt a strong need to connect with our own traditions and medicines, as well as bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science. I pursued a Professional Certification in Psychedelic Practice in the UK, and currently co-run a peer supervision group for their alumni.
Today I accompany people drawing from all these disciplines, and my own lived experience. I’m still learning, still figuring a lot of stuff out, and adjusting and refining accordingly. But I’ve been around long enough to have a good idea about what works and what doesn’t.
On a personal level, I really come alive in nature, especially by the ocean. Surfing and freediving are my happy places. Movement is my medicine, and I love poetry and the arts. My playlists probably warrant a category of their own in the Diagnostics Manual – but they bring me so much joy. And if I didn’t move around as much I’d definitely have a big dog running around.
And like they say, it takes a village. I wouldn’t even be here anymore if it hadn’t been for amazing practitioners, teachers, my family and friends, who all contributed in their own unique way to my journey and my wellbeing, and for whom I’m eternally grateful.
